For DSC systems, the yellow trouble light indicates a system problem of some sort. But it doesn't necessarily mean the battery is dead. Press * 2 on the keypad. 1 is a system problem, press 1 again for more details. At this point, 1 means low battery.

Some alarm keypads have LCD displays that provide a printout with the words “BAT” to indicate the battery needs to be replaced.

Honeywell system displays "BAT" and a number on the keypad at the same time, means a wireless device has low battery, not system battery failure.

Some older DSC models, such as PC1500, PC2550, PC3000, etc., have a potentiometer on the motherboard that needs to be calibrated to the battery charging voltage at 13.65V.

The answer is YES. There is a direct correlation between the weight of an SLA battery and its capacity. The service life of a lead-acid battery can, in part, be measured by the thickness of the positive plates.The weight of a battery is a good indication of the lead content and the life expectancy.
